About Jon Mills
I am an author, researcher and collector specialising in the Second World War British Home Front. My interest in the period was sparked by family tales of my air raid warden grandfather, my father in the Home Guard and my mother who issued ration books and identity cards. I have collected wartime memorabilia for some fifty years. I worked for local authorities before providing information and records management to the property industry.
I am also the editor of The Formation Sign, journal of the Military Heraldry Society whose members supported me in producing the two-volume Badges on Battle Dress, an illustrated history of the cloth insignia worn by the British armed forces from 1939 to 1967.
I was originally a librarian, before providing information and records management to the property industry. I am married with four grandchildren, and live in Kent.
Many of my books are self published via my own Wardens Publishing enterprise. My book on home front lapel badges - Doing their Bit - Home Front Lapel Badges, 1939-1945 - was initially self published and a hardback edition was released in 2012 through Sabrestorm Publishing, and is available from Amazon. Sabrestorm also published my book on Utility Furniture, also available from Amazon.
